Escrow has closed and you now own a home in Las Vegas. Congratulations! One of the most important steps now is setting up the services. I put this webpage together in the hope that it will make things easier. However, I find the utilities (no matter where I've lived) to be frustrating. Hopefully, you will have a better experience than I have had.
Note that if you have a US Social Security Number you may be able to handle everything via the internet. Without one, use the information below. If you find errors, please let me know so I can keep things correct. Internationals, I talked to all the utilities and combined their needs onto a single New International Service Request form. Just fill it out and send it to each of them with the exception of the water company whom you must call.
Phone - (702) 402-5555
To set up service, fax the New Service Request form along with a NOTARIZED copy of two forms of photo ID (passport, national ID card, driver's license, etc.) to: 702-402-0490.
Phone: 877-860-6020
To set up service, fax the New Service Request form along with a NOTARIZED copy of two forms of photo ID (passport, national ID card, driver's license, etc.) to: 702-365-2368.

No choice but to call on this one. However, I recommend that you call after hours or on weekends and use the emergency number 702-258-3150. When the recording asks if this is an emergency, say yes and someone will answer. Tell them that you need to set up service and that you are calling form out of the country and could not get though the regular numbers and your agent (me) was told by their (the water companies) customer service to handle it this way. You will likely have to pay a $150 deposit and they will set everything up via phone.

North Las Vegas requires you to come to their office, in person. You will need the closing statement. They will need 2 forms of photo ID and $150 deposit.
Fax: 702-599-5586 or 702-599-5584
To set up service, fax the New Service Request form along with a NOTARIZED copy of two forms of photo ID (passport, national ID card, driver's license, etc.) to: 702-599-5586 or 702-599-5584. Note: if the utilities are on, you must have trash service even if you are not in town.
While we do have a "phone" company but I have not been satisfied with them or their service. Instead, our cable TV company offers all three services in a single bundled package at a lower price. I have the $99/month bundle. Since you have to pick up equipment (cable modem) or have the equipment installed, you will need to be here to set it up.
There are multiple entities across the Las Vegas valley. Fortunately, the title company automatically notifies the sewer company about the change in ownership. And, they SHOULD start automatically billing you at your mailing address (not the property address).
When you move into a home, you may or may not get a key to the mailbox key. And, even if you get a key, you might not know which one is yours. To get a key, at no charge, go to the post office that serves your zip code. With the right documents, they will have the box re-keyed and you will get a key for free in about 4 business days. The documents you will need are the closing statement (called a HUD1). If you can't find it, call me and I will send you a copy.
Almost without exception, I ensure that a home warranty comes with your home purchase and it covers all major systems. If you do not have a copy of the document or the 800 number to call for service requests, call me and I will send it to you.
Contact me if you are considering buying or selling Las Vegas real estate. You will be glad you did.
